“When truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie.”

“I always say the truth is best even when we find it unpleasant. Any rat in a sewer can lie. It's how rats are. It's what makes them rats. But a human doesn't run and hide in dark places, because he's something more. Lying is the most personal act of cowardice there is.”

Girls' Weekend Part II

Girls Weekend

I had the best weekend. I laughed so much and so often my belly and mouth hurt. (Maybe that is the sunburn) Being with friends whom I knew since the age of 14 yrs old is the greatest. These are the girls who never judge, always understand, carefully listen and give advice. They are also fun and being with them makes me feel like a teenager though I must admit, it has been a long time since I was up to 3am. There were so many funny things that happened from the lights going out on the entire neighborhood, as the girls pulled up to the house, to the dog who molested Lisa, to Donna and Lisa thinking they were whispering at 2am when in fact they were screaming, to my refusal to sleep in a bed with a perverted dog, to Lisa and Donna sleeping in bed with the perverted dog. The story of the man singing two out three ( meatloaf song) in a dive bar who had a few strings of long greasy hair and rotten teeth, to the old guy dancing on the bar without shoes. Then there was Lisa climbing a fake palm tree, and singing Freebird at 3am, while trying to find John K's number. Great memories. Great times. Great fun. Cannot wait until the weekend of the 27th.

Another Day in the Life

Last night we watched fireworks in the distance from our balcony. Totally cool.

I survived teaching a bunch of interns the Addicted Brain. I think I lost one psychologist (intern) at "neurotransmitter". All in all, it went well except that the powerpoint did not want to cooperate, so I began winging it, while others got the powerpoint/computer/projector working. By that time, I had already covered half the information. Thank God, I was a science major way back when in that other life. Now I address behaviors.

Printed out all the necessary paperwork to apply for my license. Can you believe one written state exam cost 300 dollars, while the other cost 350 dollars? I am applying to take both, one for addictions and the other for mental health.

One step closer to Florida.

One step closer to a private practice.
