Because Other People Use This Blog For Genealogy Research

I try to take the time to photograph the graves of other families whether they have a connection or not to my genealogy history. Though our family has the surnames Keller and Wright, I do not know if these burial plots are connected to our history.

In addition to photographing "familiar" names, I also like to photograph any burial plot that is interesting and/or unusual. Believe it or not, some of the most "architectural beauty" around is in cemeteries, especially if the cemetery is old. Whitemarsh Memorial Park does not have the extraordinary artwork as Laurel Hill or other such-like Victorian Era Cemeteries, but it does have a simple peaceful feel in its surrounding grounds.

One Of The Things We Did On Easter Morning Was Drive Out To The Cemetery To Place Flowers On Molly's Grave

Whitemarsh Memorial Park

This cemetery has flat plates as grave makers (shown above). It is not a place to visit after a snow fall because you would have difficulty finding the grave. As a historian/cemetery walker/genealogist, I prefer cemeteries/churchyards with a variety of stone shapes and sizes. It gives the final resting place a feeling of character and warmth. (my opinion)
