Did you know that John G. Keller was also known as Gottlieb in 1883? Did you know he lived at 128 Walnut in Manayunk not 126 Walnut as originally thought? Did you know he had two brothers Frederick and Jacob? All this time I thought John had been known as Jacob and he had a brother named Gottlieb. How wrong I was. He was known as Gottlieb as well as John and though I thought Jacob was known as John, I was simply very wrong. Jacob is the brother of John and he lived at 126 while John lived at 128. Right next door to each other. Both are listed as having the occupation of "heater'. They worked in the steel mill heating iron and steel.
Frederick lived at 127 Green Lane in 1883 and his occupation was listed as "lab".
There are two Voigts listed in 1883; Charles who lived at 4360 Cresson Street and occupation listed as "boot and shoemaker" and Henry who lived at 4326 Fleming Street and occupation listed as "dyer".
There are two Ritters listed as "farmers". Matthias and William Ritter had a farm at Ridge and Shawmont in Roxborough.
Collum McCaffery's father, Owen is listed in 1883 as owning a Shoe Store on 4223 Main Street in Manayunk.
Patrick Gallagher lived at 138 East Street in 1883 and occupation is listed as "weaver".
Also in 1883, Bethany Lutheran Church was listed as "The German Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of Manayunk and Roxborough". This is the church the Kellers and Voigts attended.
In 1883, the Ritters are listed as being Baptist.
In 1883, the Gallaghers and McCafferys are listed as being Catholics.
