Westminster Cemetery "Ritter"

The name Ritter had been mentioned many times while I was growing up. We know for sure that the Ritters were relatives on our German side of the family. I do not have a lot of background information on the Ritters but I can tell you that they have been in this country as long as the Kellers and possibly as long as the Voigts.

It was great to learn that we had some relatives that served in the Civil War. The PJ Ritter Company was founded in 1854, its operations moved to Bridgeton in 1917, the office moved to Bridgeton in 1933, the "Catsup" is now sold under the Brooks name in the Midwest. William H Ritter Jr. was my great uncle and Selma Holly Ritter was his mother. PJ Ritter III

Thanks for the "Catsup" update. William & Selma were well known by my great grandparents. If I remember the story correctly, Selma experimented in her kitchen and that is how they came up with the recipe for the "catsup". I have an article which I believe you may have written that was sent to me by Curtis. Is your name Paul by chance?

Is it true that the secret ingredient was pineapple vinegar, which gave it the tangy taste.
