Four hundred steps we walked to reach this 1200 AD cemetery only to discover it was closed. It was a challenge to walk those steps. However, what we learned along the way was priceless. We discovered the people lived in out of the way places located in small alleys only a donkey could walk through. We discovered they are known for growing lemons and everywhere you looked, the markets were full of lemons in candy and liquor Limoncello. We discovered people used their roof tops as yards for growing flowers, trees, and where the dogs layed out to sun themselves as well as where the children played. I felt like I took a trip back in time when there were no automobiles or chaos. Laundry hung outside. People were friendly. Life appeared simple. I would travel back to this magical place in a moment.
