The Old Shawmont Station

Built in 1834, the station closed in 1995.
Located off of Nixon Street in Roxborough. The road around the old train station is still cobblestone.

The pictures of the Shawmont Station bring back fond memories. I grew up in the old coalyard behind and west of the station. Around 1943 to 1947. My father grazed his two horses on the pumping station lawn, and I played in the unused castle-like foutain. All my photos were lost years ago, so I'm delighted to see these shots again on the net. Good luck with saving the old station.
