Alfonse Valentino immigrated to America through the Port of New York on November 7, 1907 on the ship "Samland". Port of Departure was out of Antwerp, Belgium. Ship record indicated that Alfonse lived with his wife Giuseppa (Josephine) Forte Valentino in Pettoronella located in Southern Italy.
Census Records indicated that Alfonse may have first immigrated to America in 1892 and travelled back & forth to Pettoronella. Immigration year on Census Records could also be incorrect.
1910 Record
Alfonse and his wife Josephine resided at 724 Marshall Street (rear) with two children; Anthony and Carmen. Records indicated that there was a third child who died. Records also indicated that Josephine immigrated to America with her son Anthony in 1908. Occupation listed for Alfonse was a laborer who did street work.
1930 Record
The Valentino family resided on 2815 Thompson Street and purchased their home for 3,000 dollars. Listed in the home were Alfonse (46), Josephine (43), Carmen (21), Rose (18), Mary (15), Frank (13), Angelina (11), Dominic (9), Dorothy (4) and Peter (2). Records indicated that Alfonse was 20 and Josephine was 17 when they got married in Southern Italy. Occupation listed for Alfonse was a "driver" for a contractor.
At this time, I cannot locate the Valentino family in the 1920 Census Record.
